Actually raw herring is pretty good…
Olle on Mon, 26th Jan 2009 11:54 pm
Actually the “raw” heering isn’t raw. It’s pickled (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pickled_herring). But yes, it’s good. As is fermented herring (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surstr%C3%B6mming).
I have yet to try Hákarl(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hakarl), though… and Svið, Súrsaðir hrútspungar and Selshreifar, wich also are of the traditionally Icelandic food, Þorramatur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%9Eorramatur).

um.. actually the majority of people in india are vegetarians, in the 12 years i’ve lived there i never heard of anybody eating any bug.

Raw Herring is delicious if you get in the right season ( out of season its just bland)
It has to be REALLY fresh , but seriously, try it
mmmyum!

I call shenanigans. Insects are not eaten in any part of India. There is no such custom. If it is just some weird random dude in India, then it is kind of biased to state that they are eaten in India.

I’d try the horseshoe crab…looks kind of nasty in the picture, but surely it just tastes similar to most other seafood…or maybe not…
Nadia on Tue, 3rd Feb 2009 8:09 am
I have been eaten rotten soybeans (natto),tuna eyeballs
cooked crickets and grasshoppers in Japan. Very good! :)
dreamz518 on Tue, 3rd Feb 2009 1:59 pm
Can’t say I have, but cant say I wouldnt on some of them. I’d try all the bugs. Aw heck I’d take at least a bite of all of them. Ya never know.
Astrid on Tue, 3rd Feb 2009 4:52 pm
I have had pickled pigs feet, gravlax, and haggis. Nuff said.
pwizzle on Tue, 3rd Feb 2009 7:35 pm
Something “weird” to try is codfish tongues. They are not half bad!
Bandya on Tue, 3rd Feb 2009 9:59 pm
Cooked Crickets as a delicacy in India? Never heard of that. Barbecued cricketers after an emotionally charged loss … ya definitely.
APB on Wed, 4th Feb 2009 2:32 am
I don’t think horseshoe crab would be that bad…it’s probably like lobster.
This however, would be nasty…
