Beautiful Long Exposure Photos
In photography, exposure is the total amount of light allowed to fall on the photographic medium (photographic film or image sensor) during the process of taking a photograph. Exposure is measured in lux seconds, and can be computed from exposure value (EV) and scene luminance over a specified area.

In photographic jargon, an exposure generally refers to a single shutter cycle. For example: a long exposure refers to a single, protracted shutter cycle to capture enough low-intensity light, whereas a multiple exposure involves a series of relatively brief shutter cycles; effectively layering a series of photographs in one image. For the same film speed, the accumulated photometric exposure (H) should be similar in both cases.

Why can you see the trails from the headlights of cars but not the cars themselves?
how can i make pictures like this? i love them
You can see the light and not the cars because the light burns itself onto the photo, and the cars dont have enough… brightness to them to be shown in the photos, they would need to be exposed longer because they are not as bright.
The lighthouse is cool. lol
Put the camera on a tripod, with an ND filter if you have one, and then set a long exposure, low ISO and small aperture. Then wait, and enjoy the results.
Those pictures are so awesome! But number 36, the one with the metal ball made of curved pipes, that one was seriously freaky. Looked like something out of a sci-fi movie, pouring heavy smoke from all over. At least that's what I think it looks like.
Also: HYPERSPACE IN A NISSAN!!!
The Canon RS60-E3 remote switch is, i think, compatible with the 450D, and not only is it on a cable, so reduces shake, it has a lock so you don’t have to hold the shutter release down for the duration.
I have a Canon EOS450D, but the longest exposure possible on it is 30 seconds, or BULB. But the proglem with BULB, is that When I got my camera on a tripod, after 15 minutes of holding down the button, the photo is pretty shaked up. IS there any remote control or anything else that make me able to take photo's with BULB exposure, and not having to hold down the button on the camera?
Oh my goodness…. a lot of these photos were so beautiful
that they took my breath away :O they are all amazing!
These are fantastic pictures. Digital is really making it as an art form – keep up this brilliant work!

I like it thanks
People were doing this long before digital came around or was even thought of. Digital is not an art form!!! Go do it with a film camera, go develop your own film, and do it all without being able to see the picture on the back of your camera. That is an art form. Anyone can take a good digital photograph, only a photographer can take a great photograph. And one more thing. Digital editing takes the photographer out of the circle.
